Painting has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I attended Kutztown University for Fine Arts in Kutztown, PA, the Baum School of Allentown, PA and have taken many private lessons in both oil and watercolor.
My introduction to miniatures began by attending the Chicago Show and walking up to the I.G.M.A. table. I attended the Guild School that summer and took a painting class with Barbara Stanton. A year later, I applied for and received Artisan status.
My work includes landscapes, seascapes and portraits of both people and animals. I especially love painting cats.
My paintings are in oil on laminated paper. The paper is sanded lightly with wet ultra fine sandpaper and then lightly gessoed. The paint is thinned with a hand-mixed medium before applying. After the paint is dried, a matte finish is applied to the painting. This finish dulls the unequal reflective qualities of the various paint pigments. Each painting is framed either with a frame I have constructed or with a frame I purchased from another artisan. |
