Course Description:
Old or new students, novice or experienced, all are welcome in this class. Students will learn the latest techniques and produce the start of a group of perfectly proportioned people in 1/12th scale. On day one students will take a pull of one of the instructor’s basic moulds and learn to sculpt the features unique to them from which they will make a two part plaster mould. On day two, students may wish to repeat this and make a partner figure or learn to give expressions and explore the one they have. We’ll progress to hands, basic ones at first, but students will soon learn to age and characterize them along with the feet before we bake and get ready to assemble the figure in a suitable pose.

From then on, it’s all systems go. Students learn painting using Genesis Heat Set Oil Paints and wigging to complete their figures ready for dressing. This is a sculpting class and, though there will be time to dress at least one figure and patterns will be available, sculpting will still take priority.

Time: 36 hours. Completion of at least one figure is highly likely.

Power Tools: none

Skill Level: All levels, from the absolute beginner to the advanced student who wants to sharpen their technique. This class has a reputation for being fun and bawdy; we are, after all, dealing with the human body. Please be aware of this.

Materials Fee: $50 to be collected at school
