Polymer Clay Food

PROJECT:

Summer Dinner in the Garden

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Dinner is ready on the garden table: bread and breadsticks, pickled olives, mushrooms in oil, cheese, salami, sliced watermelon, jam tart, and lemonade. Students will make all the realistic food required to fill this table; learning how to use polymer clays with advanced techniques as: caning, spotted canes, stacking layers and Skinned Shades; texturing the clay with other mediums; coloring with chalks; using resin to simulate liquids. The techniques and skills learned can be used in other miniature food projects. The instructor will provide some tools together with all the accessories used in the project (glassware, plates, basket, wood cake plate), together with highly detailed written directions to keep for future reference.

TIME:

12 hours. Completion is likely.

POWER TOOLS:

none

SKILL LEVEL:

All levels. Students new to polymer clay could practice on their own before school. The instructor will provide a simple, basic tutorial for this purpose.

MATERIALS FEE:

$75 to be collected at school. Students can use their own table or take the option to buy the wicker table made by the instructor for an optional fee of $60.
