36 Hour Classes

acquisto

INSTRUCTOR:

Jamie Carrington, Fellow

COURSE:

Sculpting in Polymer Clay

PROJECT:

Sculpting Character Figures

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

New students wanting to learn the basics or returning students wanting to re-tune their skills, are all welcome in this class. From basic facial sculpting and two-part plaster mould making, to hands and feet, students will learn how to sculpt their own figures before assembly, painting, and simple wigging reveals the real figure, often a surprise.

New techniques taught in last year’s class will be taught again and experienced students will be introduced to making figures with movement. One night of observation homework will be included in the class followed by a brief exercise in modeling at speed the next morning.

This is, as someone once said, a loose class; it’s a guided journey to find the sculptor inside each individual member of the class.

TIME:

36 hours. Completion of at least one sculpted figure is highly likely. Please note this is a sculpting class; costume is not taught though there are patterns available and there is usually time to dress a figure.

POWER TOOLS:

none

SKILL LEVEL:

All levels. We are dealing with the human body and the class has a reputation for being fun and bawdy; please be aware of this.

MATERIALS FEE:

$50 to be collected at school. Modeling tools will be supplied and may be bought at the end of
the class.
