INSTRUCTOR: Christa Goes, Artisan
COURSE: Needle Work
PROJECT: Drawn Thread Sampler

Drawn thread is a counted thread technique and one of the oldest forms of openwork embroidery.
With fine fabric it is great to use for different dolls house items. In this class, students will make a sampler with different drawn thread stitches, including different hemstitches and even using beads. Also, the difficult part, cutting the fabric threads, will be taught. Students will see it is not so difficult at all. Students can use different colors or just one color, it’s their choice. The sampler is made on 55-count linen; for the stitches, they will use silk thread. The sampler is approximately 2" x 2 ½” (5 cm x 6.5 cm).
