INSTRUCTOR: Rob Tukham, Fellow
COURSE: Free Hand Lathe Turning
PROJECT: Laminated Vessel with Fitted Lid

The lathe is one of the only power tools where the cutting/abrasive is in the hands of the artisan and not the machine. Class participants will learn to appreciate the lathe and how it can add to their miniature projects. Students will learn how to turn and finish a hollow form vessel and make a fitted lid using simple techniques. They will learn to finish their project using a variety of abrasives and polishes.
Come to the class with open eyes and expect to have fun, share your learning experience, and enjoy the Guild School experience.
12 hours. Completion is likely.

All levels. A confident beginner could take this class. However, a successful completion will require the student to make some precision pieces on the lathe. Students with free hand turning experience should have no problem and will be able to challenge themselves with instructor suggested extras.
$35 to be collected at school. An optional tool set and face plate will be offered to students.
