INSTRUCTOR: Kari Bloom, Artisan
COURSE: Furniture Construction & Upholstery
PROJECT: Leather Art Deco Chair

Art Deco furnishings are well known for their playful and exaggerated lines, as this 1920’s club chair reflects. In this workshop, participants will learn all aspects of making this wonderful chair. Students will learn to cut the wood used to construct the frame. Once the frame is assembled, students will learn “beyond the basics” upholstery techniques using either “aged” maroon or pristine black leather. Students will prepare the wood for the arm insets and attach them to the chair for a finishing touch! The goal of this class is for students to not only leave with a finished chair, but they will also depart with the knowledge needed to create their own chair from start to finish.
