COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The marriage of stained glass and electric lights has resulted in many amazing lamps. Students in this class will use copper wire, bent and soldered to shape; then assembled on a three-dimensional form. The wire formwork will be filled with stained glass paint to give the look of miniature stained glass. The Christmas colors in the prototype are optional and the students will choose their own unique combinations. Once the shade is completed, students will assemble the brass base from findings and electrify the lamp with two bulbs.

TIME: 12 hours. Completion is likely.

POWER TOOLS: None

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner. Some hand strength will be required to cut the wire as well as the ability to work on very small parts.

MATERIALS FEE: $15 to be collected at school
