INSTRUCTOR: Tim Kraft, Artisan
COURSE: Overview of Wiring and Lighting
PROJECT: Lighting Techniques & Theory

Miniaturists are all guilty of constructing a magnificent item from a kit, from scratch, or even at the Guild School, only to showcase it in a dim, or even unlit corner of a display cabinet or dollhouse. This class will allow students to put their flashlights away and shed some proper light on their treasures. The instructor will demonstrate the various types of lighting, including incandescent, fluorescent, and LED; along with their applications, nuances, and idiosyncracies. Emphasis will be given to direct and indirect lighting using LED's, along with the necessary wiring and power requirements. This will be, primarily, classroomstyle instruction. The instructor will have sample models and structures available for demonstrations. Demo's will be reinforced by students using hands-on workboards. All components supplied for class and an illustrated manual will be retained by the students.
The course will cover the correct and “clean” installation of wiring a project. At the end of class, students should be able to wire and light the average roombox or dollhouse. This class is designed for the intermediate student who is familiar with tape wiring and is comfortable soldering.
