INSTRUCTOR: Cristina Minischetti, Fellow
COURSE: Polymer Clay Food
PROJECT: Making Jam (THIS CLASS IS FULL)

If the peach tree in your miniature garden has plenty of ripe, juicy fruits, why not use them to make some jam for the winter breakfasts? This “jam in progress” set is made up of peaches, jam in pots and jars, plus pears, two kinds of apples, and bananas. By making these items students will learn how to use resin and polymer clay with advanced techniques as: sculpting, caning, coloring with chalks, and using resin to simulate liquids. The techniques and skills learned can be used in other miniature food projects.
The instructor will provide some tools, together with all the accessories used in the project and highly detailed written directions to keep for future reference. She will also supply a wooden board to arrange the finished food. Students who want a different arrangement may bring their own miniature table (or kitchen counter or anything they like).
TIME: 12 hours. While completion is likely, students unable to finish the project will have the necessary information to complete it on their own.
POWER TOOLS: None
SKILL LEVEL: All levels. Students new to polymer clay could practice on their own before the school with basic polymer clay techniques as mixing clay colors or making simple shapes. For this purpose, the instructor will provide a simple basic tutorial together with the welcome letter sent to students prior to April 1.
MATERIALS FEE: $73 to be collected at school.
