Decorating a Hat with Nancy Manders (F)

This charming hat, beautiful from every view, is laden with roses both on top and underneath. Students will learn how to create these roses and other flowers as well as other decorative embellishments such as ruching. The art of feather curling and cutting, finding small lace edges in larger pieces of lace and other techniques in hat decoration will be taught. The hat should be completed with the exception of some small roses on the underside, which can be completed at home. A blank hat will be provided by the instructor. Students are asked to bring Tacky glue, needle and thread, tweezers, small straight edge scissors, a glue tool or toothpicks, an old cloth for wiping hands and a rose tool if you have one.
