This petite Sheraton-style desk, circa 1800, is made from cherry with a veneered walnut drop front. The bottom section has a center drawer and pre-turned legs; the upper section contains many smaller drawers. All furniture pieces will be pre-cut. A student with basic skills may choose to make the false drawers while the more advanced student may choose to assemble all the drawers. Students will learn about pin hinging and, although time will not allow for application, finishing the piece will be discussed in class. Students should bring a ruler, pencil, X-Acto knife with blades and fine tweezers. A corner gluing jig, clamps and a pin vise with small drill bits would be helpful, especially for sharing with fellow students.
