Phyllis Hawkes Studio

Friday 1:00 PM — 4:00 pm
All Skill Levels
$80 IGMA Members/ $90 Nonmembers

Learn lettering, basic shading, brush handling, and antiquing techniques in acrylic. You will be given enough information that you can try making your own signs at home. This sign is a simplified version of a sign that hangs today in Colonial Williamsburg. It measures 1-15/16” x 1-3/8” and is painted in acrylic on a prepared wood panel. Each student will receive an instruction booklet with step-by-step photos. Supplies required include: flat brush approximately 1/8”— 1/4” wide, sharp hard pencil, Scotch Magic tape, magnification (such as MagEyes), light with an extension cord, and a smock or apron if you tend to be messy. A 20/0 pointed round brush is included in the class fee, but feel free to bring your own fine brushes if you wish.
