Learning to Solder

This is clearly a “bright” idea. You have an opportunity to learn to solder so you can shine light on the wonderful minis you have in your various projects. This class is designed for individuals that have never held a soldering iron. Students will learn what type of iron should be used, the proper way to hold the iron (yes, there is a right and wrong way!), which solder should be used, and how to make solder connections and test them. Students will also learn how to select appropriate transformers. The techniques needed to solder will be explained and shown and students will practice their new skill on “practice” boards. Students will return home with all the tools and supplies used in class so they can immediately begin lighting their projects. Students should bring an X-acto or similar knife and small inexpensive scissors to cut foil tape.
