Beginner & Intermediate Skill Levels
$50 IGMA Members / $60 Nonmembers

In this class, you will learn introductory and intermediate techniques to make delicate 1/12” scale jewelry for display on your favorite dresser or vanity. Students will work at their own pace, each according to their level of experience. Through small-group demonstrations, each student will be taught techniques including: three methods to fashion gold-filled wire into delicate chains; creating a jewelry template from patterns and materials supplied in class; offsetting crystals to add variety and complexity to your jewelry; the best way to install crystals flawlessly and with no visible glue; and contouring your jewelry to fit on a doll, dresser or display piece. As students develop skill with practice wire, they will be able to recreate each piece in 14K gold-filled wire and Swarovski crystals.

All materials are provided to complete at least (6) crystal-studded necklaces, bracelets, pendants, and earrings, to be displayed on (3) gold-plated dresser-trays, available in a variety of shapes and sizes. Students may choose from a palette of background colors that include pastel peach, raspberry red, cypress green, royal blue, and midnight black. Alternative laser-cut displays in the same palette of colors are available for purchase. Students are asked to bring magnification (must be wearable), lamp with extension cord, chain-nose pliers (fine-point, bent-nose is best, like needle-nose pliers but flat not ribbed inside), hemostats (forceps that clamp), fine-point tweezers, fine-point scissors, nail clippers to cut jewelry wire, and x-acto knife with #11 blade. The instructor will have some of these items available for sale.
