18th Century Needlepoint Court Shoes

Shoes were not exempt from the fashion excesses of the 17th and 18th centuries. These miniature examples are stitched on 58 ct. silk gauze. Since the stitching will not be completed within the allotted class time, students will assemble a pair of shoes with fabric uppers to learn the techniques. Heels will be cast in advance of the class but the process will be discussed. Students should bring a small pair of sharp scissors.
