Please Beware of Show Guide Scam
Dear Miniaturist Dealer:
Please be advised that once again an organization called "Fairguide",
"Showguide", "Expo-Guide" and "Construct Data" is sending solicitation
letters out to dealers who are exhibiting in US miniature shows. In the
very official-looking letter, you are asked to verify your contact
information which is preprinted on an enclosed form, in order for you to
list your business in a "free" show listing. The fine print states that
the "free" listing is actually over $1600 per year with a three year
commitment if you sign the document.
IGMA's concern is that legitimate US miniature shows, business names
and addresses are listed. In our case, Guild Show dealers are being sent
letters with our organization's address in California suggesting that
IGMA is encouraging participation. We have no affiliation with these
guides, listings or organizations. Please do not sign anything or pay any
fee.
IGMA believes that it is important that the entire industry is made aware
of organizations contacting exhibitors for entries into show guides with
misleading forms and commitments. Further, IGMA reminds you to always use
care and read small print details before signing any document.
Once again, IGMA has no affiliation with these guides, listings or
organizations.
